Thankful

In our crazy past paced lives it is difficult to be stop and remember to be thankful once in a while. 

In honor of #thankfultuesdays, I wanted to share with you all what I am thankful for. 

I am thankful for God's grace, when everything seems to be terribly rocky and uncertain, His truth and His plan for me always seems to be certain. 

I was never sure where I wanted to go for my dietetic internship, or even that I would get in. I studied for months for the GRE, passed with barely acceptable scores, and even paid for someone to edit and proof read my resume and personal statement. I practiced for weeks on my interviews, and when it came down to it just had to trust that what I said in the moment would come out coherently. The one school I had always thought I would fit into was the UTHSC in Houston, only it seemed so far out of reach. I visited the director multiple times, spoke with past interns, and practiced in every way to be the perfect candidate for that school. When at the last minute, my transcripts were going to be late. I thought I didn't have a chance anywhere else, and was scared there wouldn't be an opportunity at another school. Weeks later, UTMB at Galveston called to interview me. Everyone there seemed so natural and down to earth, like I could just talk to them about every day life. They didn't try to intimidate me like most schools do, they just wanted to figure out who I was. For that split second, I decided to change my rankings and UTMB was my number one choice instead of UTHSC. Weeks later I visited UTHSC again, and loved it. I was scared I didn't make the right decision. 

Until Match Day. 

God proved me wrong. He placed me in the school that was meant for me all along. My number one choice, that I was so uncertain about, ended up being the school that I would start my internship with. Less than 50% of applicants get matches and eventually attend a dietetic internship to become a registered dietitian. And I was one of those. 

God has always been faithful, even when I am so unfaithful. 

My most recent thing I am thankful for is true friendship. My friends back at home had a hard time accepting that I would be in the Houston area for my internship, and potentially for the rest of my life. There's so much opportunity here that after I'm finished, it didn't make sense to move back. Although I am letting go of a life that could include daily family and friend visits instead of monthly ones, I am gaining the opportunity to build a life for myself and my future family that could possibly do so much more. While it's been hard to swallow, I finally feel that Houston is where I'm meant to be for the moment. 

And it's all because of the Grace of God. I was not sure if I would find that family and friend close bond that I left back at home, here in Houston. Until one day God told my dear friend Jenny to approach me and befriend me. We randomly attended a new church one day, I had been wanting to grow in faith and find a support system here in Houston that we could rely on, in the event that family from San Antonio could not be here. 

Unknowingly, my best friend back at home had been praying for me that I would find that exact thing. And Jenny had been praying for a close girlfriend that could be there for her when her friends cannot, as they are also finding separate paths in life. A simple "I like your dress" and an invite to game night later, and I've found what I've been looking for, and what God had promised all along. A true supportive friend that I could grow in faith with, share crazy workouts with, and bond over relationship trials and tribulations with. I mean, her husband's name is Ryan, just like my fiance's name. Can you say meant to be?!

We've started our workout group, FitFAITH, where we want to not only help others in reaching their fitness goals, but to love themselves and love others, and to grow in faith. I love our 5am workouts and can actually say I look forward to waking up at 4:30am for them now! 


So today I am thankful for faithful friendships, those that have the same goals as me that are pushing me to become a better person, those that pray for me even though they're hundreds of miles away, and those that God has brought in my life to show me His love and His grace. I can only hope to show others the love that these women have shown me!!

Accountability

It's been quite some time since I've last posted! While I've been keeping up with my exercise and meal prep routine, I haven't posted much on it. It's time to get accountable. 

Thankfully I've found a friend who's helped me do just that! We've teamed up to form FitFaith
In order to inspire ourselves and others, we are tracking our progress and hoping to motivate others to do the same!

We are just two hard working, average, every day girls. Not fitness models. And we love following these awesome fitness models with their workout videos and Their way to perfect bodies. But let's face it. This is their job!! They get paid to work out! So it's our turn to show everyone that if we can do it in our busy routines, so can anyone else. The goal is not to be perfect. The goal is to continue to strive to be the best version our ourselves we can possibly be! We also want to honor God and be the best Christians we can be. Not perfect. Just beautifully and wonderfully made in His eyes. 

Also, during my dietetic internship I will be providing some rd knowledge of the most current research! Bc I'm a nerd like that. 

But really, this blog and FitFAITH are all about learning to incorporate this into your own lives! Do what works for you.

Include this daily check list to make sure you're checking in with yourself. Make sure to incorporate healthy, well balanced meals and healthy snacks like fruits and vegetables. By keeping yourself on track you can be sure to reach your goals.
